new stories - the debut record from Kris Carlisle and myself is out now!
Featuring the music of Harriet Steinke, Dorothy Chang and Stacy Garrop; we're very happy to present these pieces as 'first recordings'!
Strange Lights (Harriet Steinke) is an evocative soundscape that allows the listener an opportunity to let the music guide their thoughts. Beautifully written, and with great craft, Steinke weaves the saxophone in and out of the texture of the piano to create a perfect blend of sound.
New Stories (Dorothy Chang) is one of the most challanging compositions in the saxophone repertoire. While the piece explores many of the extended techniques and colors the saxophone can create, Chang's composition never loses sight of being a fantastic, tuneful piece of music, full of sincerity, and grace.
My Dearest Ruth (Stacy Garrop) follows the last written statement Martin Ginsburg wrote to his wife, Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsberg. The letter was found posthumously and used as the lyrical content by Garrop in the original version for soprano voice and piano, for Ruth Bader Ginsberg's 80th birthday celebration (held at the Supreme Court). The version for saxophone and piano was arranged by the composer and is one of the most powerful and moving pieces of music in the saxophone catalogue.

A little about myself: I am a saxophonist and guitarist teaching and performing in the Atlanta area and abroad. I regularly perform with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, as well as the regional orchestras in Georgia and Alabama. In the past decade I toured internationally with the AJ Ghent Band and Electric Avenue and performed at some of our country's most iconic venues, including the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Over the past 20 years I've been freelancing with many wonderful local and regional ensembles, and have had the pleasure of teaching the wonderful students in my private studio. My most recent record is with Bumpin the Mango as a writer and baritone saxophonist. Please visit my biography page for more information, and browse the pictures and video links! Thank you for visiting!
