The research presented below was collected from visiting nearly 1000 websites. I used the document Diverse Composers of Wind Band Music, compiled by Chris Folk, and visited the website of every female composer listed. In total, there are 222 composers represented, totaling around 800 compositions. Included in this list are pieces for solo saxophone (listed as the instrument specified), saxophone and piano, concerti, as well as chamber music including saxophone quartet and mixed ensembles. All quartets are SATB unless otherwise noted. For almost every entry the year of the composition is listed as well as timing. In addition to the composer’s name her website is listed as well. I excluded publishers as many of these pieces are self-published, and the intent is for the researching saxophonists to visit the composer’s website to learn more about their history, and in many cases, contact the composer about purchasing the materials. In addition, the exclusion of publishers aims to keep the focus on the composer and not serve as an advertisement or endorsement of anything other than these individuals.
